This book gave a good view of Coach Dale's life. I kind of wish the author had talked to some of us who were younger than he. Our experiences with Coach were after the coaching career was over, but we have some good Coach Dale stories, too!Product details

Jack Dale The Life and Times of an Unforgettable Coach eBook Gale Maag Reviews
Mr. Maag's book takes you back to a different day and age, when mischief was merely mischief and where people were judged by their heart. I found both Jack Dale and Mr. Maag to be very interesting and read-worthy. Their antics and accomplishments are very interesting, but their relationship was the most appealing thing to me. In fact, all of the relationships in this book are the heart and soul of this read. Throughout the book there are mentions of brothers and sisters, teammates, old friends, and individuals from Maag's hometown and with each mention you will find great stories but more importantly you will find great love and respect for each person mentioned in this book.
I love the descriptions of Maag's hometown, down to the descriptions of the cars and the old bumpy roads leading to fishing holes or to Razorback games. The settings for the football games are beyond excellent! Again, I love the stories of mischief! I love the stories about Dale's strategies, head games, and motivational tools. The appendectomy and the use of Maag as "bait" against a giant on an opposing team are worth reading over and over! The author uses short, direct sentences which reminds me of Hemingway's style; a personal favorite. Within these sentences Maag manages to capture many emotions with the words and allows us to see into peoples heart.
Great book!
If you are a Razorback football fan or love encouraging non-fiction stories of an underdog who rose to fame and never forgot his humble beginnings the story of Jack Dale (a real life story) is for you. I knew Jack Dale more as a first class biology and zoology teacher than as a football coach or star Arkansas Razorback player. Dale had an eclectic personality with the warmth of an open fire. He was an unforgettable character and had been all of his life. Seldom does life produce humans who care for others as much as Jack Dale. I wish that everyone could have known him.
I knew Coach Dale and most everyone mentioned in the book. It brings back great memories of that period of time.
What a find! Coach Jack Dale was a coach, and my high school biology teacher in my hometown of Paragould, Arkansas. He had been a star football player at The University of Arkansas. Author Dale Maag did a wonderful job of telling Coach Dale's remarkable story. Even if you were not from that area, the book is a great read for any football fan.
This book gave a good view of Coach Dale's life. I kind of wish the author had talked to some of us who were younger than he. Our experiences with Coach were after the coaching career was over, but we have some good Coach Dale stories, too!
